Concrete Canvas Ltd. was founded in August 2005 to develop and commercialise Concrete Canvas Shelters and Concrete Cloth technologies. The firm has developed a ground breaking material technology called Concrete Cloth that allows concrete to be used in a completely new way. Concrete Cloth was originally developed for the award winning Concrete Canvas Shelters, a building in a bag that requires only water and air for construction, within about half a day. Concrete Canvas Shelters are rapidly deployable, hardened shelters that provide a minimum of 16 square meters of interior space. Larger shelters are also available, and these shelters can be inter-connected to provide much larger interior areas. For example, in Afghanistan the useable life of some tents has been less than three weeks due to wind damage.

The website also states the shelters can be earth bermed to provide protection against small arms fire and shrapnel, and the plastic liner of the shelters can be adapted to provide NBC protection. They also are excellent for protection from the natural elements, wind, rain, snow and hail. With insulation these shelters also have a low heat signature.
